Thai Thao
Thai Thao, widely known as Thai Sounders, is a pioneering figure in modern Hmong music who founded the rock band the Sounders in the early 1990s. His primary objective was to bridge Hmong cultural themes with Western musical styles, a blend that helped break creative barriers within the community. Over a career spanning nearly three decades, Thao wrote and recorded more than 65 songs, producing celebrated hits such as "1000 Miles," "Lub Paj Rose," "Dua Rhe Nplooj Siab," "Puas Kho Siab," and "Koj". His influence as a frontman and musician earned him lasting respect across generations of Hmong-Americans. Thao officially concluded his stage career in February 2024, wrapping up his final farewell tour with a performance at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin—a region home to one of the largest Hmong populations in the United States.
