Pagnia Xiong

1

Pagnia Xiong is an internationally recognized Hmong-American singer, actor, and creative producer who emerged as a prominent voice in modern Hmong music in the mid-2000s. After debuting with her self-produced album Nyob Ib Sab (2006) at age twenty, she went on to release Ntseeg Kuv (2010) and executive-produce Plhis Suab (2016). Known for her vocal ballads and empowering themes, her track "Txoj Phuam Txoom Suab" became a widely cherished coming-of-age anthem for Hmong brides, and her participation in the 2011 collaborative anthem "Hmoob Yuavtsum Hlub Hmoob" garnered millions of views globally. Beyond recording music, Xiong made history in July 2021 as the first Hmong-American female music artist to perform the national anthem at a major U.S. professional sports event (for the Minnesota Twins). She has since expanded into theater, making her mainstage acting debut in the 2023 musical AGAIN, and executive producing her own solo concert, Pagnia in Love: Live in Concert, at Saint Paul's Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in late 2023.
