Maiv Muas Kwm
Maiv Muas Kwm (also known as Mai Moua Kue) was a legendary Hmong vocalist considered one of the defining voices of modern Hmong music. Classically trained in Laos, where she initially began her music career, she later transitioned into recording Hmong songs during the late 1980s and 1990s. She gained widespread recognition across generations of the Hmong diaspora for signature tracks such as "Noj Peb Caug" and "Puas Nco Kev Sib Hlub"—the latter famously featured in the popular Hmong-dubbed film Lis Ceeb Thiab Maiv Xis. Known for her distinct vocal style and progressive song themes that touched on female independence and social values, she set high artistic standards for early Hmong pop music before moving to Michigan, where she lived until her passing in July 2022.
